OMiLAB@UNIZA is approaching the digitalization of selected sports management processes (e.g. funding at the regional and local level), athletes’ learning and development, sports managers’ development, modelling of human resources processes (onboarding, motivating, evaluating the work performance, etc.).

This node is established at a faculty that combines expertise in informatics with managerial science and practice. The OMiLAB platform is primarily implemented in the courses within the study program information management. It nicely fits into the expertise of managerial games and simulations as a form of interactive teaching with gamification aspects. In the long term, the lab is a step towards higher quality of professional preparation of the students in alignment with the requirements of the industry and companies the faculty is closely connected to. The first domain approached by the academicians, students, and related external stakeholders in this node is the digitalization of selected sports management processes, namely the regional and local funding of sports and the athletes’ learning and development.

About the Hosting Organisation

The Faculty of Management Science and Informatics is one of the six faculties of the University of Zilina in Zilina, Slovakia. Its structure consists of seven departments in various fields of informatics, computer engineering, and management. Faculty’s scientific and educational activities focus mainly on:

• systems for decision support, optimization, and simulation of complex business processes,
• development of methods and procedures in the field of business management (project, process, information management),
• development of procedures, methodologies, and technologies for cybersecurity,
• development and implementation of network technologies.
